Principal's Message

The only purpose of education is to teach a student how to live his life-by developing his mind and equipping him to deal with reality. The training he needs is theoretical, i.e., conceptual with strong practical, hands on approach to basics. He has to be taught to think, to understand, to integrate, to prove and to apply. He has to be taught the essentials of the knowledge discovered in the past and to be equipped to acquire further knowledge by his own effort. The success of any nation depends on the youth who further depend upon the quality of instruction that can only be provided through quality teacher education. The question of what knowledge, attitudes, behavior and skills teachers should possess is the subject of much debate all over the world. This is understandable, as teachers are entrusted with the transmission of a society's beliefs, attitudes and values, as well as of information, advice and wisdom to the child. A teacher has not only to instruct but also to inspire the students; she has to influence the life and character of her students, and equip them with ideas and values which will enable them to enter the stream of national life as worthy citizens. Today, the teachers have to concern themselves with the total development of the child and not only with one or two aspects of education. Welcome to this extremely challenging profession of teaching! No other profession is designed to have such a transformative affect upon the lives of individuals in our society. Becoming and being an educator will likely be the most testing yet ultimately most rewarding undertaking of your life. The Chandigarh College of Education faculty and staff are there to support you in your goal of becoming and being that professional educator. We look forward to guiding you in your journey of self discovery as you embark upon and pursue your professional goals in the extremely satisfying career of Teaching.
