Summer Course on “Education of Children with Special Needs”

Keeping into view the diversity of today’s classrooms, three weeks summer course dated 8 June, 2022 to 24 June, 2022 was organized by Chandigarh College of Education, Landran Mohali. Dr. Sneh Bansal, Principal CCE along with assistant professor Ms. Gurpreet Walia was the mentor of the course. The course was on MOOC Platform, in total the entire course comprised of 3 modules, covering the basic concept of inclusion, along with the challenges faced by the various authorities dealing with inclusive education in schools, various activities were conducted in order to have a deep and clear understanding and hold over diverse classrooms. In total 79 students were part of the course; 39 students from semester 2 and 40 students from semester 4.

Summer Course focused on Demonstrating understanding of inclusive education with reference to children with disabilities and its importance. Know the journey of inclusive education at international and national (India) level and speci?cally know the Rights of persons with disabilities Act (2016) in India and implementation in schools. Plan and design the inclusive lessons based on the concept and principles of Universal design for learning. Examine the Roles and Responsibilities of school personnel for collaboration in inclusive schools .Create an inclusive school environment based on the comprehensive school reform model.
