Farewell on 19th May 2008Farewell on 19th May 2008 was organised at Silver party place in Sector 26 Chandigarh. The students gathered together to bid adieu to each other and enjoy the memories of their moments of togetherness in the college. 3rd Annual Sports Day celebration 19th February 2008.The 3rd Annual Sports Day of Chandigarh College of Education, Landran was organized on 19th February 2008 in the college campus. The chief guest on this occasion was Padam Shri S. Pargat Singhji (famous Olympics hockey player ) currently Director, Sports Punjab. While addressing the audience after declaring open the 3rd annual sports meet of college, he said the organization of such events by colleges would not only encourage youth to participate in sports but also help to keep them away from drugs. The Chairman of the college S. Satnam Singh Sandhu appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and President S. Rashpal Singh also encouraged the students. Satinder Kaur Best Athlete: Beant KaurAnnual Day Celebration on 17th March 2008Annual day of the Chandigarh Group of Colleges was celebrated on 17th March 2008. Sukhbir Singh Badal-President Shromani Akali Dal was the chief guest on that day. The Annual Day was celebrated through presenting with different cultural events like Gidda, Bhangra , Skits, Solo Song and Dance Competitions. Later on Prizes were distributed to Merit list holders of different examination, sports champions along with students excelling in other activities. Lunch was served to all the students as well as staff. International Women’s Day celebration on 8th March 2008 A seminar to celebrate women’s day was organized in the college campus on 8th March 08. More than 60 participants from nearly 20 colleges in and around the city participated in the seminar and presented papers on the following sub themes: National Science Day celebrated at Chandigarh College of Education, Landran On this occasion different inter-college competitions were held. Students from various Education Colleges participated in the Science quiz, Poster making, collage competition and Fine Arts competitions. Dr Jagtar Singh Khatra, DPI (schools) was the chief guest of the occasion. Speaking on the occasion he appreciated the efforts of management of Chandigarh Group of colleges in delivering the quality education. He also informed about the plans of Punjab Govt to improve the school Education. The CM of Punjab himself is visiting the schools to know better about it, he further added. Speaking on the occasion S. Satnam Singh Sandhu Chairman & S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President Chandigarh Group of Colleges said that the basic objective of observing National Science Day is to spread the message of importance of Science and its application among the people. In Science Quiz, first prize was given to GND College of Education and second prize was bagged by Chandigarh College of Landran and third prize was given to Dev Samaj College of Eduaction. In Poster making, first prize was given to Indo global College of Eduaction and second prize was bagged by Dev Samaj College of Eduaction. In Collage making, first prize was bagged by Chandigarh College of Landran and second prize by Dev Samaj College of Eduaction. In Best out of Waste Punjab College of Education, Chunni Kalan got the first prize. In T Shirt painting competition, Punjab College of Education, Chunni Kalan got the first prize and GND College of Education stood second. In paper Bag making Indo global college Abhipur and CCE Landran, got the first and second prize position respectively. In Glass painting competition, Dev Samaj College got the first prize and Rayat & Bahra College of Education stood second. In Mural Making making Rayat & Bahra College of Education got the first and second prize position respectively. Prizes won at Inter college competitionsThe students of our college won prizes in Inter college competitions held at different Institutes as follows:Shivalik Institute of Education and Research, Mohali on 31st January 2008 Kusum Lata Ist in Black Board Writing (English) Vipul 2nd in Card Designing Shikha 3rd in Best out of waste Rayat and Bahra College of Education, Kharar on 5th February 2008 Quiz team comprising of Akshit, Neha and Manpreet Ist in quiz based on theme of AIDS One day Educational trip to Shimla & Kufri on 24th January 2008More than 65 students along with 12 staff members (teaching and non Teaching) went on a one day educational trip to the Queen of Hills Shimla also known as the summer capital of India during British rule. The students had a fun filled day enjoying the snow at Kufri in the peak of winter season. 10 Day NSS Camp from 21st to 30th December 2007NSS camp is conducted in the college to generate an awareness among the prospective teachers about their role responsibility and contribution to the society .A host of activities were conducted on these 10 days that included lecture cum documentary presentation and a rally on Female foeticide, Free Medical Camp , Stress management cum Yoga camp, Poster making on female foeticide and blood donation, Blood Donation motivational lecture, Multimedia usage for social messages, Communication skills for effective message presentation, Tree plantation , Lecture on First Aid, Traffic rules, Cleanliness Drive in gurudwara, school and lanes of the adopted village , Slum children Literacy programme etc…Many eminent resource persons were invited to deliver lectures and sensitize the students about various social evils prevalent in society and discuss the practical means that can be adopted to combat these evils. Art Workshop held on 13th December 2007Prof. Ravinder Kumar Sharma from Govt. College of Art, Sector 10, Chandigarh delivered a lecture on art and creativity that the teachers could deliver to their students. He spoke of gifted uniqueness in everyone and how it could be explored. Followed by his speech, demonstration of his art work was also done by him wherein he prepared beautiful pictures with in few minutes and showed the magic of his strokes and answered to the queries of the students. He elaborated on how the same technique can be followed by the students. He also gave the tips for making teaching aids to the students. It was a great learning experience for all the B.Ed students as well as for the teachers. Seminar on Human Rights Day on 10th December 2007This day was celebrated to commemorate the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur ji as an epitome of sacrifice for the cause of upholding basic Human Rights. Prof Kirpal Singh Badhungar, former president SGPC and Dr. Daljit Sigh Cheema Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister expressed their views on this occasion about the historical significance of the day urging the students on the need of upholding Human Rights of others as well. The college students created a human chain by joining hands and holding banners and posters to display their solidarity for respecting the rights of others. Various competitions were also organized on this occasion and prizes were awarded to the winners. In poetry recitation competitionSunita Stood first, Gurpreet Singh Second and Baljit singh won the Third position and Raziya Sultan won the consolation prize. In declamation competition Raziya sultan won the first position, Sonia Gulia Second. Ramandeep & Bandana won consolation prizes. In essay writing competition Raziya sultan stood first, Neena Second, Mankawal third & Balwinder consolation In Poster Making Competition Amandeep Kaur won first, Sukhwinder Kaur second, Kavita third & Sunita won consolation prize. In Placard making competition Shikha stood first position and Gurpreet Singh won the Second position. AIDS Day CelebrationThe students of Chandigarh College of Education, Landran, Mohali participated in World AIDS day Inter College competitions organized by the Red Ribbon Club of Dev Samaj College of Education on 1st December 2007. Out of more than 65 participants of 10 colleges participating in these competitions our students were able to win laurels for the institute as follows: Poster Making Competition 1st Baljeet R.No 76 2nd Kusum Lata R.No 3 Consolation Sarabjeet R.No 82 Essay Writing Competition 1st Sonia Gulia R.No 5 Consolation Navpahuljit Kaur R.No 92 An AIDS AWARENESS RALLY was organized by the students and staff of Chandigarh College of Education Landran during the course of their Teaching Practice at Government High School, Phase 11 to celebrate World AIDS Day. The school students moved around the sector carrying placards and shouting slogans to generate awareness among the people of the area regarding the dreaded outcomes of this syndrome. The students were also sensitized by the prospective teachers about the preventive measures that can be undertaken to be safe from AIDS. The principal of the school Mrs. Surinder Kaur was appreciative of the efforts of the Lecturers Mrs Inderjeet Kaur and Mrs Sonu Devi along with student teachers of CCE, Landran in conducting this programme. The Chairman Satnam Singh Sandhu and President Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal of Chandigarh Group of Colleges expressed their concern at the epidemic like proportion that this syndrome had assumed and felt that the need of the hour was to enlighten the masses as only knowledge can empower them with the power to combat this virulent virus. Earlier competitions in slogan writing and poster making were also organized at the different schools in and around Mohali where the students have been conducting Teaching Practice for the past I month on the theme of AIDS Awareness. Children’s Day Celebration 14th November in schoolsDuring the month long teaching practice organized at different schools children’s day was celebrated by organizing poster making, slogan writing , poem recitation etc. Sweets were distributed among the students and prizes given to the winners of different competitions Teaching Practice from 5th to 30th November 2007A month long teaching practice was conducted in different schools in and around Mohali viz.. · Lawerence Public School, Mohal · Govt Senior Secondary School, Kumbra · Govt Elemantry School, Phase 7, Mohali · Govt High School, Phase 11, Mohali · Govt Senior Secondary School, Landran Youth Festival 28th to 30th OctoberIt was organized at Desh Bhagat College Gobindgarh and a total of 35 students participated in different competitions like Giddha, Group Shabad, Skit, Quiz., Western vocal solo, Fine Arts items like Clay modeling, on the spot painting, cartooning, poster making, Literary items like Debate, elocution Folk art items Phulkari, Mehndi, Seviayan and Eno making, Our students won prizes as follows: Giddha 3rd Quiz 2nd 6th to 8th November in Punjabi university : Quiz team participated in the Inter zonal youth festival held at Punjabi University Patiala Extension Lecture on Micro Teaching SkillsOn 22nd Oct 2007, an Extension lecture on ‘Micro Teaching Skills’ was organized at Chandigarh College of Education ,Landran. Mrs Charanjeet Kaur, Lecturer of Teaching of Home science, and Mr.Rohit Bhandari , Lecturer of teaching in Commerce from Dev Samaj College of Education Sec 36, Chandigarh were invited to deliver lecture. The Stage was conducted by Mrs Samriti, Lecturer in teaching in Social Studies. Mrs Charanjeet Kaur, explained the meaning and assumptions of Micro Teaching and Skills of Writing Instuctional Objectives and Skill of Fluency in Questioning in detail. Lecturers and Students took active participation in the programme to clarify their doubts. After that, Mr. Rohit Bhandari presented a practical demonstration on Skill of Blackboard writing , Explaining and Stimulus Variation using examples from the environment. The programme was highly appreciated by S. Satnam Singh Sandhu (Chairman) and S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal , (President) of the College who encouraged all the participants and the faculty to organize more such programmes for upgrading the teaching skills of students and thus enhance Quality Education. The programme concluded with Dr. Neena Sawhney (Principal) presenting a vote of thanks to the Chief Guests. Talent HuntThe Talent Hunt was organized on 21st September 2007 in college premises. S. Satnam Sing Sandhu (Chairman) and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal (President) the honourable Chief guests were warmly welcomed by Principal Dr. Neena Sawhney. The programme started with a prayer in praise of God students participated enthusiastically in different activities like Poetry, Debate , Solo Singing , Quiz , Skit , Mimicry, Rangoli, Painting , Clay modeling, Collage making , Cartooning , Mehandi and Giddha. The names of the winner’s were also announced at the end of the function. The list of the winners in different items was as followed.

Teacher’s DayTeacher’s Day was celebrated on 5th September 2007. Almost all the students participated on this occasion. Students presented different items like Songs, Speech, Debate, Poetry recitation, Extempore. At the end, programme was concluded with last item i.e. Giddha Inauguration cum Orientation ProgrammeOn 3rd September , inaugural cum Orientation programme was organized on the occasion of beginning of third session of B.ED college . The programme started with the lightening of the lamp by S. Satnam Singh Sandhu (Chairman), S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal (President ) and Dr. Neena Sawhney (Principal). The stage was conducted by; Mrs Babita Banga (Lecturer in Teaching of Social Studies) and a presentation regarding the B.ED course curriculum was given by Mrs Inderpreet Kaur (Lecturer in teaching of Punjabi)..Dr. Neena Sawhney welcomed the new students and emphasized the need for Quality Education . S. Satnam Singh Sandhu (Chairman ) emphasized on the moral values needed for this noble profession of teaching in his message to new students. In the End of the programme, vote of thanks was given by Miss Gurjeet Kaur (Lecturer in Teaching of Physical Science). |
